Chipstead FC v Clifton FC
So this week the Mighty Clifton travelled to play Chipstead and hoped to keep their good form going!
Few of the London boys were a bit out of their comfort zone in the Kent country side but soon focused on the game.
Pitch looked ok bit of a slope but a good surface for the boys to zip it around. After a decent warm up the game kicked off and I think we started ok moving the ball about well and getting on behind their defence early. Chipstead nearly took the lead though after Mark R having a skill school moment at the back with a few step overs before being robbed by one of their forwards but was bailed out by Dunc. Although after the tackle Mark shouted " Dunc get back over there no come back inside no sweep in behind!!" Confusion which stayed with Dunc most of the half!!! Oppo loved the long ball and soon took the lead from one,smashed from the back straight over our back 4 only to be finished by their nippy striker!
We stuck to it and after a hoof from our back line their left back look so scared of the on coming mad midget he scored one of the best OGS you'd see chipping his own keeper....1-1. Rest of half played out with not too much excitement at either end although we got a free kick after a savage assault on Rick from behind ( not like the ones he's used to or likes!!) Free kick was smashed low and hard by Scott but just flew past the post the wrong side. Halftime 1-1.
Second half got under way and we started the better side having more possession but finishing not at the same standard.
Pass and move was killing oppo and with me and Scott up against 3 in the middle already one of there centre mids shouted "wingers you've got to tuck in here give us a hand!!!" ....What 3 on 2 ....bossing it oi oi!!
We continued to press but with no real end product. Changes were made and Chris after being taken off early had been pacing the sidelines like a caged animal🐯 came on with fire in his belly!! It didn't take him long for him to vent his frustration after a bullet header from a great corner from my new favourite Stotty! 2-1 Clifton!
After taking the lead we took our foot off the gas and Chipstead started to get back in the game. Champs gave the centre forward the red carpet treatment waving him through on goal the forward even had time to double take it and pat Champs on the back for his efforts! Fortunately no damage was done. But it wasn't long before it was 2-2 after a bit of lazy defending!
We pushed on with Andy running things down Baz looking for a worldy pass Stu cutting more players down than Vinnie Jones in the 90s Stotty up and down like a prostitutes knickers Me and Scott dogging between 3 and half chances at both ends coming to nothing!
Full time and game finished with a Desmond! !
Team felt a bit down after although we got a point but felt we should have won the game, good points. ..
Still unbeaten in the league in 2015 Point away from home No knocks this week Alberto found the ground Mark R caught the ball I got my achillies back from their 7 after the game Champs didn't face plant!! Things to work on... Stu stay on your feet Baz Alberto Mark play the easy pass Stu stay on your feet Test the keeper more Stu stay on your feet Back 4 don't play offside Stu stay on your feet!!!!
On to a home game next week let's keep the momentum going and get 3 points! !
