Clifton FC v Bow St Runners B
With a few weeks break and we are back in action in the league at home to Bow Street B! The Gaffer must have slipped up on the text out in the week cos all the boys seemed to be there early with Stu looking like he'd stepped off a Caribbean cruise ship!!
Changing room was in high spirits with all the boys buzzing to get back to competitive action! ! Tunes pumping,Banter in full swing then. ........."Oh we wearing the Orange socks today then? !!" All look round Lendog pulling on his black numbers! !
Warm up a bit quicker than expected after the early meet...lost the toss (standard ) game kicks off.
We started well pushing them back and were the better team from the off. We bombed on and a few midfield runs from the Skipper we kept them in their own half! We played high and won the ball back quick and at times played some good football.
Lendog had a few chances...first of which was a great volly that just went wide then a few headers after a few good moves. We looked comfortable apart from when they hit the post after a rare corner kick!
At this stage we didn't look like getting anything from 3 points from the game.
To come in at Halftime 0-0 was unreal,we had bossed the half and done everything but score Second half started and they with their tails up fancied it and pushed us back. We seemed to drop deeper and seemed to be on the back foot.
They couldn't break us down though and with crys from the left mid( as Dunc smashed him for the 19th time) "Didn't know I was up against Conner McGregor today we were solid in defence. After a great UFC move Dunc smeared his man to set Rick on his way who whipped a great ball off the bobble onto the box only to be meet by One in Ten Len who put the ball home! This didn't change the game too much and Bow Street still pushed on. We tried pulling out all the stops...Scott was trying all the Tekkers he knew (which would later make him pick up his first tutu ) Hoops was buzzing about but they still pushed on.
We gave away some silly fouls one of which was Alberto after being told not to foul smashing the fellas shins into Swanley high street. We stood firm and Champs saved us on the line after a defensive Fuck up.
Some mad moments followed with Baz superman diving down the pitch trying to head it...Stotty freezing on the spot when set in wide and Baz savagely stamping on Reevseys toe. We stood strong and defended well and limited them to limited chances!
Ref was poor and only after a bit of sweet talking saved their midfield from a Hoops rampage!! We shut the game out and took all 3 points but was alot harder game than it looked on paper. Another step closer to Div 2 and a great team battle.
Another break in league fixtures next week but still 3 games to go and another big push. Great team effort and ground it out...That's what Champions do!!
