Clifton FC v Shirley Town FC
We was back at home of football this week to face early table toppers Shirley Town.
Sun was out and I was on the team bus this week...top Saturday! Everyone was there early doors and if moods weren't high enough Dunc rocked up looking like Barney Rubbles misses Betty with his new 70s Bob haircut!
Pitch was in top nick and after last week's bog it looked like Wembley! ! Game kicked off and we were on the front foot taking the game to them! Passing was good and we looked comfortable early doors.Len had an early chance but the effort found Swanley Asda!
We looked threatening everytime we pushed on. Soon it was 1-0 from a great long throw from Len saw Dunc leapfrog off their player onto Hunters back only to use the new Haircut to nod the ball home! He landed joined in the celebrations then realised it was him who scored so proceeded to dance and spin around like a scene from Disney on ice!!
We continued to dominate and play some good football. Next goal soon came after a good move finished off with a slotted left foot pass from the Skipper only for Hoops to dummy in so killing their back four for Nobby to finish calmy. If sky sports had been there the dummy would be key feature on showboat.
They had a rare chance after Dunc was caught checking his hair only to play them onside but their finishing was as good as Stu's heading! Should have been 3-0 after the best move of the game but Len was deemed offside by the Dolminos man!!
Andy had a rare moment where he lost the ball ran off only to get hit with it on the way down. ..rare Tutu moment! Hoops also hit the bar this time from a corner.
HT 2-0.
Few changes were made and within 30 secs of kick off Len hit the bar after another good move. Second half we seemed to step off a bit and although we still pushed on we didn't look like scoring but they didn't either!!
Rick looked more like himself and at one stage thought he was showboating by doing a Kanchelskis by standing on the ball but turned out more of a David Dunn moment falling over it! Mark R times his game time by 500 in the last meeting even took some throws after getting the ball this time!! After a few more changes soon it was 3-0 after Len holding off the whole back 4 like Akinfenwa. .when he realised he wasn't getting a shot off he set Ed who finished nicely! They had given up hope by then and we had more great chances..Stotty back on the wing set in Stu but the ball hit him in the face and the ball spun off in the wrong direction. Soon we had a pen and with Len off the pitch Scott with a side show Bob smile headed to the spot only for Chris to be calling for Andy to step up like his life depended on it. Luckily the Gaffer ordered Shaun to step up and with no doubt scored his first Clifton goal...crowd went mad,well I went mad top boy Shaun! Closing moments saw Andy do a Bentner and miss a pretty much open goal!
Game finished 4-0 a clean sheet and another step towards Div 2!
Another top performance and getting good momentum going into next week's game with Cudham.
Loads of different Tutu votes but a new player picked it up..Andy !
