Shirley Town FC v Clifton FC

Well league game 5 took the Mighty Orange army away to current league leaders Shirley Town. The game was played at a school which brought back some bad memories for some players...Stu and Dunc moved very quickly past the Head masters office in fear of getting pulled in, Chris was looking for an older bird on the netball courts to finger behind the bike sheds, Shaun Reevsey and Hoops all sneaked off round the back of the science block for a cheeky fag with poor Rick running in to the changing rooms quick in fear of a school bully shoving him down the bog again!!
The mood was decent although we had to change with the oppo and there was soon plenty of banter when Rick pulled out the Comic strip boots!! 🙈
The pitch was pony and the game kicked off,we looked the better side from the off and we soon took the lead from a wonder free kick from Dave! With Andy chasing down everything and Chris holding things up we looked in control. It was soon 2-0 from a cheeky lob from about 30 yards by goal machine Lendog!!
We took our foot off the gas as we looked comfortable. The ball went out quite far out of play for a throw so Baz took the chance to make a change. Mark R came on and fetched the ball only to be subbed for Rick! Some might see it as harsh but what a master stroke. He saw we were tired so bought Mark on to get the ball back to save our legs, with the ball retrieved Rick set off and lifted the game a bit for us! Genuis!! Rick soon set up Andy for a 1 on 1 but couldn't finish. Stotty continued to twist their right back into the ground like a Cork screw!
Halftime came and we lead 2 -0.
Few changes were made and we came out the traps better. Soon after Reevsey threw a quick ball out it got moved quick for Andy to make it 3-0.
They got back into the game after Shaun and Dunc did some Dancing on ice scenes. They pushed on but we held them off. Then after good build up a foul (which was in the box) we had a free kick. After a few handbags Dave struck the ball with anger straight in the back of the net 5-1! We continued to push and Dunc moved into midfield and was like a solider from Platoon with tackles and balls smashing off him all over the place! We finished the much better side and deserved the win. The steak continues well done boys! Good games all round with Stotty ripping up the wing Dave dead ball specialist Reevsey keeping it safe and even Alberto throwing his body at challenges!!
We roll into next week full of confidence and playing well!
Come on Clifton ⚽🍊
