Chipstead FC v Clifton FC
Today the Mighty Orange where back at the home of football Green court sports club to take on Chipstead for the second time this season and we hoped to nick all 3 points this time.
Conditions were far from perfect and we had to put some weights in Andys socks to weigh him down a bit to stop him blowing away!! Pitch was decent although a bit bobbly.
We fancied our chances although it was the anniversary of our last loss this time last year. Game kicked off and it was obvious it was going to be a very tough 90 mins in very windy conditions. I think we started better but didn't create any clear cut chances.
Then they broke and although their player was going nowhere Baz unleashed a Razor special and brought him down in the box. Some say he won the ball some say he didn't we will never really know for sure but a Pen was awarded.
Reevsey didn't work too hard to make himself look big and the goal small. And with his feet saved the pen.
We pushed on the rest of the half and were by far the best side but we couldn't finish our dinner today.
We went into halftime 0-0 and felt we wasted the winds advantage. Few changes were made. And although Marco had hit black Friday hard at Bluewater last week he seemed to be having withdraw symptoms from Saturday shopping and was doing a bit online on his phone and nearly missed KO.
Mark R came on and improved on his 30 sec stint last week and put a solid 90 seconds in for the team. He run his nuts off and felt he influenced the game in that short spell 😳 with the wind in our faces the oppo pushed on and we were defending hard. We created a decent chance but Andy fired the shot wide.
A way into the half Lomas played a lovely Death pass into the middle the ball then rebounded and found its way towards Reevsey. .he cleared the ball to their CF and he buried it 1-0! Their tails were up and they kept pushing forward with us occasionally getting forward. Another few changes were made but soon it was 2-0 after one of their players lost Champs and broke on. Champs felt it was offside and unleashed verbal fury at Alberto who looked like a naughty school boy.
Not much happened after that with the game killed off.
So we lost for the first time in a year of league football. Champs picked up the Tutu after a debate in the bar for his savage verbal attack on poor defensiveness Alberto. Although was disappointing he didn't wear it...👎🏼 The boys will deal with the disappointment in different ways...
Len will be all over any bird within 5 feet of him. Hoops will be 8 ciders in. Shaun will be high as a kite. Baz will be punching himself in the mirror. Hunter will be trolling the internet for filth Alberto will be rocking in the corner mumbling "on side on side" and will probably need counciling!!
Was our first loss in a year. Onto next week,get back to winning ways,remember it's a year since we lost!! Still a long way to go, year since we lost! !!
