Clifton FC v Borough Utd
After the game looking dubious for quite a time after this week's weather the game was switched to a different venue in Dartford for our big game vs Borough.
Boys were buzzing to see The Skip and Akinfenwa Len back after their recent knocks although little Rick was still out. It also see the return of Stotty after a lay off. Shaun was giving Hoops competition on the smell of booze and glass eyes after a little sesh Friday night! Pitch looked decent although a bit small but was in good nick.
Game kicked off and after a little 'No after u no u have it mate' from Champs and Dunc they got their first corner 20 secs in. We defended it well but the next 10 mins were playing on our half. Soon we had a corner which Hoops whipped straight in to the keeper who missed it and went straight in. This turned the game in our favour and we started to boss the game. Len wasn't only holding the ball up but was show boating with a few flicks and tricks. Hoops was finding space and was causing problems. We continued to put Mr Magoo under pressure with plenty of long throws and corners but couldn't convert.Len also swung and missed at a good chance that he would later regret. Soon it was 2-0 after a bit of a scramble Scott smashed it home after Dunc had his 4th career Clifton shot at goal!

They changed their shape second half and it took us a while to settle. Stotty came on made a couple of passes. Then Stotty went off-very close of Mark Rodgers low minute game time record. We still had the better chances but didn't score. Then a mad moment which saw Champs appear in their half (no one knows how he got there and what he was doing,but word is he was having a little daydream and wander forgetting where he was!) Len set him in but the shot was blocked. There were cries off "what's he doing up there,what's he doing? "
With about 20 to go they had a free kick which was hit goal ward. Unbeknown at the time Hoops from the halfway line called 'Keepers" to which everyone left the ball including Reevsey. .2-1. They then pushed on and after a death back pass header Reevsey had to fly off his line out his box and punch the ball away the forward brushed passed our stopper. There was an almighty cry..from Reevsey! Man down. They was after a free kick and the Cat to be sent off. But a true acting performance from Reevsey had everyone fooled that he was really hurt. Except Dunc who was saying "Get up Mr Bump" His misses even run on the pitch to be with him in these painful times. It looked like it was a trip to A&E for him. He misses started to cry the ref was going to abandon the game then in a flash a miracle. ..bosh he was up and about. With this Len stopped trying to prime players to vote for Lee for the Tutu and turned his attention on escorting Katherine off the pitch. He was heard saying "There's a little busy shelter up here,let's head up there and I'll calm u down!" It was only Stotty stepping in from the side line that stopped her getting the Fingers full effort!!
The miracle doesn't end there...we got a free kick and who stepped up to smash the ball forward only the Glassman himself to crystal of "it's a miracle from the travelling fans!" Half played out with the back 4 staying strong midfield working hard (even Hoops doing doggys ) and Len keeping them busy at the back. With time running out we only had to keep the ball when the ball fell to Scott,who faked right then left did a trick then lost the ball it was only a good save from Pat Butcher that saved his bacon!
Game finished 2-1 and that was a massive 3 points for us!
Tutu voting got serious with Champs even phoning a friend and Baz holding court like Judge Judy when it was his time to vote. Lendog picked his first one up in the end for the swing and miss! ! Good effort by the boys today great 3 points.
Next week we have a break in fixtures but have a friendly to keep momentum going before another big game against Blyth.
