Bow Street Runners B v Clifton FC
This week the Mighty Orange took a trip away to Bow Street Runners at the Met police ground. Venue looked plush but with some many old bill about a few faces looked on edge. Hoops didn't let his bag out of his sight and Stu kept his hat on and scarf round his face in case he was recognised! ! Changing rooms looked more like a spa sauna when I rocked up with Baz sat in the corner in his pants already sweating and Hoops and Shaun floating about in a towel. It was so hot Andy fell asleep in the corner!! Pitched looked heavy and pretty tight but we were all buzzing to get started. With a few tactical jumps over a huge dog shit we were ready for battle!
We looked the better side early on and prob saw more of the ball but they defo looked like they could score.
We soon went in front from a decent header from Big bird Scotty! Lead didn't last long after not dealing with a keeper punt their forward had a shot from the corner flag and looked to be going off for a throw until big Reevsey slapped it goal bound 1-1!
Didn't take us too long to get our noses in front after a goal of the season contender from Lendog! After spending most of the first 30 mins wrestling their back line he got free onto a loose ball and finished well.
We still looked rusty but just before Halftime after a long throw from Len Scott helped it on only for one of their players to flick it in their own net! Halftime 3-1 up. Within 2 mins of the re start some of our top boys had to retire through injuries,the flying midget and Captain Marvel went off!
They went us more from the off and obviously fancied getting back in the game! Our shape was pulled all over the place but we limited them to few chances. Soon we had a corner then another corner then another corner then another corner. Shaun coming close on one with a glancing header which would have been his first orange goal. After about the 6th go and Hoops doing his most doggys all game going side to side Mark Rodgers headed just over.
No goals this half but a few moments of entertainment..
Alberto in on goal only to shank it miles wide while taking a doormat divot and after looking at the pitch in disgust like it had fouled him!!
Then Andys which we know now ...shoot that flew across the pitch like an RPG straight at Lendog and hit him in the chest! If it had hit his head think he'd have ended up in A&E! Was good to see Glassman Reevsey coming out to punch balls away. Although would help if he could punch harder than an 80 year old women with arthritis! Balls just dropped a yard in front of his feet!! Champs head seemed to have corners with him heading it all over the place! Alberto continuing to confuse us and the oppo with his unpredictable touch/control and passes! ! Although Dunc went calmly about Ironing out anybody who came near him and Len going full Akinfenwa holding off 3 players a time- Unit!!
Game finished and another 3 points. Team suffered a few injuries but saw the return of top Boyo Shaun! Alberto picked up the Tutu for his miss and Hoops and Stu managed to leave the place without getting recognised or arrested! !
3 massive games up next. Halfway there and top of the league.
