Clifton FC v Bexley 1884

Gaffer had a smaller squad to choose from with a few injuries or Daddy daycare duties reducing the numbers! New target man Chris showed his commitment by pushing through with a serious dose of Man flu!!

After one of the maddest moments in football (the ref making us put white tape round our socks ,so he could tell who won the tackles in the game) the game kicked off. Both sides seeing a bit of the ball but we saw the better chances. After a top chest control and spin volley from Man flu Chris the keeper pulled off another magic save! Then saw Andy hit the inside of the post and the ball come back into the keepers arms after a Sat Nav pass!

We went into halftime 0-0 but confident that we were the better side and that we would score soon.

Second half started and we took the game by the bollocks creating a few chances but their keeper had seen it all before (prob in World war 2) and was throwing his body at everything! We soon took the lead from new Golden boot Scotty then Andy shortly made it too. A few changes were made by both sides and the visitors started to get back in the game. Soon scoring from a set piece then again from a bit of poor defending and Mark R diving over the ball which would see him be the 4th Tutu victim! Credit to the boys we kept going and a minute from the final whistle Bexley got a corner from some mad defending. We cleared the set piece and sent Andy on his way, after clipping a ball from the wing to just inside the box Scott rifled a volley into the back of the net,if their keeper had got behind it it prob would have killed him! The kick followed but that was that. .we won 3-2.

Top effort from the lads which saw a few players playing new positions and doing well. Onwards and upwards!

Come on the Clifton ⚽🍊
